All Time Favorites

Recently I asked my aunt what her two favorite shoes were and if she would be willing to blog about them for me. She said yes, and here are the two shoes.

1. New York Yankees slippers!   The ultimate in luxury, combined with comfort. These are truly my all-time favorite feet-possessions! I seldom wear them however, lest they get dirty, or alas...wear out.
 :(

2. Silver strappy heels!  Worn on the day of my wedding..impractical ? Yes !  But when you're floating o air, in the blissful, romantic dream, of your wedding day, who cares about comfort, rain, children (or new husbands) stepping on your bare, exposed toes ??  No, none of that matters, when you're wearing a sensational pair of high heeled shoes !  A gals' got to make sacrifices, doesn't she ? LOL  :)

Summer Sandals

I love wearing white sandals to church in the summer and or spring. They just have this warm weather, fun-times-ahead-on-the-beach feeling that come along with wearing them. Pictured above are my favorite summer high heels in white, that I wear every chance I get. I always feel sad when I have to put them away for the winter. Since they are one of the higher heels in my closet I even call them my growth spurts, because I am 3 in. taller whenever I wear them. There are several reasons I chose this heel when I was looking for a summer sandal. The first was that it was white and "Strappy", and the second was the wood detail on the heel. The other detail I really liked was the stitching on the straps. It really gave them character. Even though they are not as comfortable as I would like them to be, I love them and would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Here are some other summer sandals I really like:

Lego shoes. Never heard of them?

I was recently visiting my aunt and saw these cute shoes on my little cousins. I thought they were so cute and unique , I asked her to blog about them for me. I think the story of how they got them is adorable and hope you enjoy it too.

My 5 year old son Henry is a Lego fanatic.  On a recent trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa, Grandma was eager to take Henry to a shoe store.  He wasn't very interested in shoe shopping, but suddenly became very excited when he saw a pair of Lego shoes.  Grandma had seen them before our arrival, and knew just the boy who would want them.  Grandma also saw a pair for Henry's two year old sister Grace.  Grandma decided that she wanted to splurge and get each of them a pair.  The first thing Henry did when he got home with the new shoes was to check if Lego pieces could attach.  They couldn't, but he didn't mind too much.  A couple of months after receiving the shoes, Henry was a big Lego block for Halloween.  The special finishing detail was the Lego shoes.  Below is a picture of both pairs of shoes. I especially liked the detail on the soles.

Fellow Shoe Bloggers

The other day I was looking at some other shoe blogs and decided I should share the links to them with you. I really liked some of the posts on the shoegirl's shoe line and the picture of the first red-soled louboutins on shoeblog.com. Hope you like them too!

The Great Deal Hunt

Hey, everyone! I found a bargain shopper to do a blog for me about how to get great deals on shoes. I hope you enjoy the great tips and advice!

I love deal shopping for shoes. The search for the deal without losing the joy of what you want is what equals fun shopping for me.  Especially, since I win much more than I lose and I love the "hunt."  The hunt consists of going to my favorite spots the Nordstrom Rack, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and a couple of other spots that I can't divulge.
Once there, the hunt involves more than just going through the spot that is marked for the size I want, it means combing all the racks.  Why - because there are so many annoying shoppers that do not maintain the organization of where the shoes should be... so in order to be sure not to miss the deal of the day, you have to look at all of them.
My sister had been shopping for winter boots for her 3 year old daughter and didn't want to overpay, since they only last one season.  Convinced there were none, she gave up.   I went out and in one evening found the perfect ones - quality and style for a three year old and she loved them, hearts and all.   Here is a pic of this win:

So What is My Style?

One of the purposes of my blog was to help my followers have a chance to know what kinds of shoes they prefer and develop a personal style. I think having a personal style is so important because it makes us unique and help us define who we are. Its okay to follow the current trends, but its also important to give our own personal twist to them and not let others decide our style for us. What we wear should be a reflection of what is on the inside, appropriate for the occasion, and what we want other people to think of us. For instance, a sweet, innocent, romantic girl wouldn't wear bright red, studded stilettos to church, but maybe wedges with some flower detail. A no-nonsense practical girl wouldn't be caught in lace flats with bows, while a trendy, bubbly girl would wear glittery heels or studded flats. Take the time to figure out what shoes best fit your personality and the occasion. Then hopefully you will be able to go amazing places and do fun things, while being comfortable and confident in your shoes.

What to take a quiz to find your style?

Shoe Makeovers

There are shoes that I buy and absolutely love. Then there are shoes that I buy, but want to make better or change to fit my personality. I call this giving a shoe a "makeover". :) I think personalizing a pair of shoes is a great way to show creativity and express personal style. You can do this by getting new shoe laces, adding decoration like ribbons and sparkles, or even by drawing and painting on them. To give you a few examples of how I give shoes "makeovers", I bought a pair of white baby church shoes and some ribbon. To begin with I cut the existing bows off and made two new bows. Then to make it look crafty I added buttons in the center of the bows and on the sides where the Velcro attaches. I kept the shoe simple so it could be worn to church, but made them a one of a kind and cuter in my opinion.

The other example I did was a pair of plain, boring, black, rain boots that I got for a really good price the other day. I wanted to make them less boring looking, but keep them looking classy and simple. I found that some fabric flowers and faux diamonds really dressed them up for me, but I could have done pretty much anything with them and they would have looked great.

Below I gave some links to a website that personalizes shoes by painting them, and pictures of some creative flip flops.
